About Ben Adams

I own the marketing function for teams running without a senior leader

Most of the companies I work with have a marketing team that’s capable and busy, and nobody senior enough to decide what that team should be working on. That’s the job I take. I own marketing, or one named part of it, as an ongoing engagement, and I’m accountable for what it produces.

I can do that because I’ve run marketing from both sides of the table. I’ve been the senior in-house leader accountable for a 22-brand portfolio with an eight-person team and a $2M budget, and I’ve been the independent consultant working directly with founders and CMOs on lean teams. The first taught me how to run a function and defend a number. The second taught me how to get results without a big team behind me.

I’ve been in marketing 20+ years and working in search since 2006. My work spans the full funnel: strategy, SEO (including AEO and GEO for AI-era search), paid media, GA4 and GTM analytics, marketing automation and email in HubSpot, Pardot, and SharpSpring, account-based marketing, and the executive reporting that ties it all back to revenue. I build systems that compound rather than one-off spikes.

How I work

I work on retainer, not by the project. In practice that means:

  • Engagements are ongoing, six months or annual. Compounding growth needs enough runway to actually compound.
  • You get a set amount of my capacity each month, held for you.
  • You work with me directly. There’s no junior team behind a senior name, and no account manager in the middle.
  • You can hand me the whole discipline as fractional marketing leadership, owning strategy across channels, or hand me one named specialty and let me own that.
  • If what you have is a single defined project with a finish line, I may not be the right call, and I’ll tell you so in the first conversation.

A few results

  • Rebuilt a flagship healthcare-education site’s organic visibility and grew learners through the funnel by 50%+, then led growth across 22 clinician brands on a $2M budget, helping grow the portfolio from ~$12M to ~$16M.
  • Multi-year partner to B2B SaaS platforms: Thought Industries, Eurekos, Auditdata, 3G (acquired by Descartes Systems Group) on the strategy behind their growth.
  • Grew organic traffic 30 to 40% for a DTC online learning company and leads ~25% across long-term SaaS engagements; expanded a healthcare audience 40% and lifted retention 20%.
  • Earlier, ran digital teams and P&Ls for Fortune 500 brands (Marmot, ECCO, Skillsoft, Elavon, Bottomline Technologies, Perry Ellis), growing the department’s revenue from $200K to $1M+.

“Creative strategy with flawless execution”

“Using a combination of SEO, content marketing and paid media, we grew leads to the website by about 25%, which grew pipeline and sales. Ben also guided us through a website migration and a rebranding without giving back the ground we had gained. It positioned the company to be purchased, which was the intended outcome.”
